Margaret “Peg” Hayes Biggins
Mrs. Biggins, 63, of South River, died Oct. 9, 2007, at Saint Peter’s University Hospital, New Brunswick. Born in New Brunswick, she resided in Somerset and Edison, prior to relocating to South River in 1971. She was a communicant of St. Mary of Ostrabrama Roman Catholic Church, South River. She was a Brownie and Girl Scout leader, and Boy Scout den leader in South River. She enjoyed collecting bears. She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Robert J. Biggins Jr.; a daughter, Margaret M. Biggins of North Brunswick; two sons and one daughter-in-law, William R. and Penny Biggins of Manville, and Robert J. Biggins III of South River; a sister, Barbara C. Hayes of South River; four grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Mary’s Church. Interment was at St. Mary’s Cemetery, East Brunswick. Arrangements were by Brunswick Memorial Funeral Home, East Brunswick.
Doris E. Giles Gardner
Mrs. Gardner, 83, of North Brunswick, died Oct. 23, 2007, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Born in New Brunswick, she resided in Edison prior to relocating to North Brunswick 20 years ago. She was a member of United Methodist Church of New Brunswick. She was predeceased by her husband, Alan F. Gardner, in 1993. She is sur- vived by two daughters, Peggy Ann Kovach of Edison and Estelle Isbitski of Toms River; a brother, Robert H. Giles of Spotswood; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. A funeral service was held at United Methodist Church. Burial followed at Franklin Memorial Park, North Brunswick. Arrangements were by Selover Funeral Home, North Brunswick.
Jean C. Patrick
Mrs. Patrick, 72, of Jackson, died Oct. 14, 2007, at home. She was born in New Brunswick and had lived in Toms River, Edison and Milltown, as well as in Clearwater, Fla., before moving to Jackson two years ago. Prior to retiring in 2005, Mrs. Patrick was an administrative assistant at Georgian Court University, Lakewood, for many years. She also worked for St. Petersburg College in Florida, the Hilton hotels in St. Petersburg, the Ramada Inn in Edison and Middlesex County College, Edison. She was a communicant of St. Aloysius Roman Catholic Church, Jackson, where she was a member of the Altar Rosary Society and the St. Vincent de Paul Society. Mrs. Patrick was a member of the Jackson Senior Citizens Club and supported the efforts of the Jackson Tea Party to address rising taxes in Jackson. In earlier years, she was elected as a member of the Middlesex County Democratic Committee. She was an active supporter of her grandchildren’s endeavors in Jackson recreation, the Cub Scouts and school district activities. In addition, Mrs. Patrick provided assistance for homeless individuals and those who are at risk of being homeless in Ocean County. She was predeceased by a brother, Jack Welsh. Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Bonnie Patrick Mattalian and Dean Mattalian of Hackensack, and Kathleen Patrick and Stephen Martin of Jackson; a sister-in-law, Marie Welsh of Milltown; three grandchildren; two nieces, Sharon Welsh of Manalapan and Sue Selvaggio of North Brunswick; and two nephews, John Welsh and Jim Welsh, both of Milltown. A funeral liturgy was celebrated at St. Aloysius Church. George S. Hassler Funeral Home, Jackson, was in charge of arrangements.
