Edison police charge brothers with assault on township man

 

 

EDISON — Two Iselin men allegedly assaulted an Edison man who was found unconscious on the ground and bleeding from a head wound near the Hidden Valley apartment complex in North Edison, according to police.

Brothers Eliseo Alonzo-Mendez, 28, and Luis Alonzo-Mendez, 29, were charged with aggravated assault and possession of various weapons on May 30.

Police were dispatched to the Hidden Valley apartment complex at 6:30 p.m. on May 29 and found the unconscious man. The man’s brother and a friend, who were reportedly comforting the unconscious individual when police officers arrived, told Sgt. Brian Rossmeyer the man had allegedly been involved in a dispute with four men and the dispute turned violent.

Police said the man was struck on the head with a pipe or other object. Police have not yet recovered the weapon. The injured individual was taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick, and admitted for treatment of his injuries, police said.

The brothers were processed and transported to the Middlesex County Adult Corrections Center, North Brunswick, to await arraignment. The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information may contact Edison police detectives at 732-248-7400.
