Esperanza Karyczak

Mrs. Karyczak, 64, of Marlboro, died July 26 at her home. Born in Peru, she had lived in Rutherford before moving to Marlboro 14 years ago. Mrs. Karyczak was a member of the cafeteria staff for the Freehold Township School District until her retirement in 1998. She was a communicant of St. Gabriel’s Roman Catholic Church, Marlboro. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph, in 2000. Mrs. Karyczak is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Zelmi and Alan Cappola of Marlboro; two sisters, Nelly Romano of Westfield and Edit Porras of Edison; and two grandsons. A funeral liturgy was celebrated at St. Gabriel’s Church, followed by entombment at Woodbridge Memorial Gardens, Woodbridge. The Freeman Manalapan-Marlboro Funeral Home, Manalapan, was in charge of arrangements.

Ralph Angelo DeStefano

Mr. DeStefano, 77, of the Sewaren section of Woodbridge, died July 10 at home. Born in Jersey City, he had resided there before moving to Sewaren 48 years ago. Prior to retiring 15 years ago, he was employed as a truck driver for Eastern Oil and Mystic Oil in Jersey City for 45 years. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member and past president of Teamsters Local 866, and a communicant of St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church, Port Reading section of Woodbridge. Mr. DeStefano was predeceased by his wife, Norinne Murphy DeStefano, in 2003, as well as several brothers and sisters. Surviving are four daughters, Norinne “Bunny” Stadler of Taos, N.M., Marilyn White of Marathon, Fla., and Lenore McFeeley and Suzanne DeStefano, both of Sewaren; three sisters, Irene Meicke, Helen Peduto and Anna Porzelt; and three grandchildren, Timothy McFeeley and Jaron and Taylor Stadler. Funeral services were held at Costello-Greiner Funeral Home, Woodbridge, followed by a funeral liturgy at St. Anthony of Padua Church. Entombment took place at Clover Leaf Memorial Park, Woodbridge.
