MARLBORO – An application that is proposing the construction of a five-story hotel is expected to be heard by the Marlboro Zoning Board of Adjustment on Oct. 9.
GHM Properties’ application to construct a Holiday Inn Express and Suites on Willow Lane, off Route 9, was scheduled to be heard by the board on July 24.
The zoning board provided the following explanation as to why the application was not heard that evening: “There was an issue with GHM Properties’ notice of its July 24 public hearing before the (board). The applicant and the zoning board want to be sure all persons received the proper information concerning the application as required by law and that the constitutional due process rights of the public are protected. Therefore, the applicant will issue a new public notice which will be mailed out and published in accordance with the Municipal Land Use Law.”
The application to be heard by the board involves a 2.1-acre property on Willow Lane. The parcel currently has a one-story dwelling, walkways, a rear deck, an in-ground swimming pool and a detached garage.
GHM Properties is seeking a use variance from the zoning board and is proposing to remove the existing site improvements and to construct a Holiday Inn Express and Suites with 101 guest rooms, 121 parking spaces, landscape improvements, a site identification sign and a refuse enclosure. Attorney Salvatore Alfieri represents the applicant.
