Applications accepted for Fall 2018 South Brunswick Citizen Police Academy

Applications are being accepted for the Fall 2018 South Brunswick Citizen Police Academy.

The academy offers a behind-the-scenes look at policing. A dozen officers and detectives will share their perspective and insights into the daily workings of the police department.

The academy will offer training on a range of law enforcement topics, including motor vehicle laws, criminal law and use of force. In addition, citizens will learn about crime scene processing, defensive tactics and internal affairs.

The academy will culminate with a day of practical exercises where students will handle simulated motor vehicle stops, disputes and other realistic scenarios.

The academy will be held from 6:30-9:30 p.m. Thursdays, beginning Sept. 20, at police headquarters, 540 Ridge Road, Monmouth Junction section of South Brunswick. There will be no class on Thanksgiving, Nov. 22. Graduation is set for Dec. 6.
