Christian Shave of Howell was named to the dean’s list at The Citadel, Charleston, S.C., for his academic achievements during the 2018 spring semester.
Joseph D. Caccamo of Howell has been named to the dean’s list for the 2018 spring semester at St Joseph’s University, Philadelphia. Joseph is the son of Kim and Joe Caccamo. He is a graduate of Howell High School and is majoring in accounting at St. Joseph’s.
Georgian Court University, Lakewood, announced that the following area residents have received academic awards for 2017-18:
• Nico L. DeAngelo of Jackson, a major in criminal justice, earned the Criminal Justice: Law Enforcement Award. The award is given to a junior or senior criminal justice student with a concentration in law enforcement who has at least a 3.5 GPA in the major and/or has demonstrated integrity, ethical leadership and a concern for social justice and plans to become a law enforcement officer.
• Sally Thomas-Ridgway of Howell, a major in mathematics, earned the Mathematics: Sister Stephanie Sloyan Award. The award recognizes academic achievement by a mathematics major.
• Christopher Nelson of Howell, a major in social work, earned the Social Work: Ethical Leadership in Social Justice Award. The award is given to a social work student who demonstrates ethical leadership in social justice.
• Stephanie E. Mason of Jackson, a major in Spanish, earned the Spanish: Dr. Manuel Salas Memorial Award. The award recognizes a student with proficiency in Spanish, plans to teach Spanish, or plans to travel in Spain.
• Natalie Hnath of Jackson, a major in business administration, earned the Business: Sister Muriel Lynch Award and the Business: Delta Mu Delta-Epsilon Zeta Chapter Book Award. The Sister Muriel Lynch Award, named for a former business department chair, is given to a business major with the highest average in management subjects and who has provided service to the School of Business and Digital Media in club or honor society activities. The Delta Mu Delta-Epsilon Zeta Chapter Book Award, from the business honor society, is given to the senior business student with the highest GPA.
