A review of the Toms River scholastic football teams in Toms River.

DONOVAN CATHOLIC

Donovan Catholic High School improved to 4-1 on the season when it coasted to a 55-0 victory on the road against Point Pleasant Beach High School on Oct.12.

Donovan Catholic will seek its fifth victory when it faces Mater Dei Prep in New Monmouth on Oct. 20. Kick off is set for 7 p.m.

Donovan Catholic’s junior quarterback, Ryan Clark, threw for two touchdowns and rushed for a TD to spark the victory over Point Pleasant Beach.

Donovan Catholic received a balanced running game from its backs.

Junior Nasir Calhoun, sophomores Yassin Moore and Jahdir Loftlan and freshman Mysun Esdaile each rushed for a touchdown apiece. Junior free safety Keaon Torres scored a touchdown off an interception to contribute to the victory.

 

TOMS RIVER EAST

Toms River High School East will seek its third victory of the season when it clashes with rival Toms River High School North at home. The game will be played at 7 p.m. on Oct. 19.

Toms River East improved to 2-4 on the season after it posted a 28-20 victory over   Pinelands Regional High School on Oct. 12.

Toms River East’s junior quarterback, Mike Goodall, threw for a touchdown and rushed for 101 yards in the victory. The TD pass was a 44-yarder that was caught by junior wide receiver Nasceem Davis.

Junior back Frankie Giannetti also sparked the victory when he rushed for 147 yards and three touchdowns.
