Former volunteer firefighter charged with sexual assault of a minor

A former volunteer firefighter and current maintenance worker of a local hospital has been charged with the sexual assault of a minor.

Robert Jazikoff, 64, of Whiting in Manchester Township, was charged on Nov. 1 and charged with two first degree counts of aggravated sexual assault, and two second degree counts of sexual assault, arising from incidents that allegedly occurred in Woodbridge between 1991 and 1992, with a minor between 12-13 years of age, according to a joint statement from Middlesex County Prosecutor Andrew C. Carey and Director Robert Hubner of the Woodbridge Police Department.

Jazikoff, who is currently employed as a maintenance worker at Hackensack Meridian Health-JFK Medical Center in Edison, is currently being held at the Middlesex County Adult Correction Center pending a detention hearing scheduled for next week.

An investigation began after the victim, who is now an adult, notified authorities. The investigation is being conducted by members of the Woodbridge Police Department and the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office.

It was determined that Jazikoff, at the time of the incident, was a volunteer firefighter with the Port Reading Fire Department District No. 2 in Woodbridge. Subsequent to that, he was the volunteer fire chief in the same department in 1996.
