Independent candidate Anthony Talerico has won the race for Eatontown mayor against Republican Mark Regan.
According to results posted online by the Monmouth County Clerk’s Office, Talerico led Regan 1,675 to 1,647. The results will not be official until they are certified by the county.
Results from the election indicated 610 write-in votes were cast. Gerry Tarantolo, a former mayor, launched a write-in bid in the final weeks of the campaign, but it was not known how many, if any, of the 610 write-in votes were cast for Tarantolo.
Democrats Jasmine Story and Lisa Murphy have won the race against Republicans James Corcoran and Vito Paolantonio Jr., and independents Christine Caruso, Virginia East and Ralph Anderson for two open seats on the Eatontown Borough Council.
Story recorded 1,828 votes, Murphy, received 1,796 votes; Corcoran registered 1,630 votes; Paolantonio gained 1,630 votes; Anderson had 887 votes; East took in 766 votes; and Caruso collected 333 votes.
In Red Bank, Mayor Pasquale Menna will remain in his position for another term after defeating newcomer Pearl Lee in the race for the mayor’s seat. Menna will serve a four-year term from January 2019 through December 2022.
According to results posted online by the Monmouth County Clerk’s Office, Menna received 2,388 votes and Lee recorded 1,639 votes. The results are unofficial until they are certified by the county.
Democrats Katherine Triggiano and Hazim Yassin won three-year terms on the Red Bank Borough Council. Triggiano and Yassin were leading Republicans Michael Clancy and Allison Gregory, and independent candidate Sue Viscomi, by a sizable margin.
According to results posted online, Triggiano collected 2,371 votes, Yassin received 2,210 votes, Gregory recorded 1,463 votes, Clancy registered 1,349 votes and Vicomi recorded 478 votes. Officials were still counting mail-in ballots and provisional ballots. The results will not be official until they are certified by the county.
In Rumson, Republican Joseph Hemphill ran uncontested in the mayor’s race and was elected to serve another term. Hemphill received 2,570 votes.
In the race for two seats on the Borough Council, Republican incumbents Mark Rubin, 1,798 votes, and John Conklin, 1,932 votes, defeated Democrats Sarah Orsay, 1,549 votes, and Marnie Doherty, 1533 votes. Rubin and Conklin will serve three-year terms on the governing body.
In Shrewsbury Borough, Republican Erik Anderson defeated Democrat David Dragonetti for the mayor’s seat. As of Nov. 9, according to results posted online by the Monmouth County Clerk’s Office, Anderson had defeated Dragonetti, 1,216 to 865.
Republicans Jeffrey DeSalvo and Donald Eddy have defeated Democrats Amanda Ngo and Carol Loeffler in a race for two open seats on the Borough Council. DeSalvo registered 1,164 votes, Eddy gained 1,154 votes, Ngo collected 957 votes and and Loeffler had 909 votes.
In Shrewsbury Township, Democrat Edward Nolan has defeated Republican Maryellen McNama-Bailly in the race for a seat on the Borough Council. As of Nov. 9, Nolan, who is serving as mayor in 2018, collected 247 votes and McNama-Bailly received 112 votes.
In West Long Branch, Janet W. Tucci ran unopposed for mayor. Tucci, who is the current mayor, will serve another four-year term. Tucci received 2,144 votes. Republicans Steven Cioffi and John Penta Jr. ran unopposed for two open seats on the Borough Council. Penta, who currently serves on the governing body, recorded 1,966 votes and Cioffi received 2,078 votes.
