Following the resignation of school board member Erica DiRaimondo, school district officials are encouraging East Windsor Township residents to apply to fill the open seat.
DiRaimondo’s resignation from the East Windsor Regional School District Bard of Education was accepted by the school board at its Dec. 10 meeting. She was one of seven East Windsor Township representatives on the nine-member school board. The remaining two seats are held by Hightstown Borough residents.
Now, the school board is seeking applications from East Windsor Township residents to fill out the remainder of DiRaimondo’s three-year term, which expires in January 2020.
Would-be school board members should submit a letter of interest – via mail or email – to Board Secretary Paul M. Todd by Jan. 2, 2019. Letters may be mailed to Todd at the school district office at 25A Leshin Lane, Hightstown, NJ 08520, or by email to [email protected].
To be eligible to serve on the school board, an applicant must be a U.S. citizen and have lived in East Windsor Township for at least one year. He or she must be registered to vote.
Applicants must be at least 18 years old, and able to read and write. An applicant cannot be directly or indirectly involved in any contract with, or claim against, the East Windsor school district.
Applicants must be able to attend the school board’s Jan. 7, 2019 meeting, which starts at 7 p.m. It will be held in the Administration Training Room 807, located at 25A Leshin Lane (Hightstown High School).
The school board will interview the applicants, and then vote in open session to appoint the new board member.
The successful candidate will serve until the school board reorganization meeting in January 2020.
