The East Brunswick Public Library is teaming up with NAMI New Jersey (National Alliance on Mental Health) to offer the “In Our Own Voice” program at 7 p.m. on Jan. 9 at the library, 2 Jean Walling Civic Center, East Brunswick.
Developed by NAMI-NJ, this program features individuals with various mental health conditions giving presentations about their illness and recovery. “In Our Own Voice” is a powerful tool for community education and reducing stigma by putting a human face on an often misunderstood area of human suffering. The goal is to help reduce the discrimination often faced by people who deal with mental health illnesses and issues, those who care about them and those who care for them.
“In Our Own Voice” is free and open to the public.
This program is presented through the library’s “Just for the Health of It” community health and wellness information initiative.
