As part of the Kelsey Kids Series, the timeless, tangled tale of “Rapunzel” is coming to Mercer County Community College’s Kelsey Theatre.
The award-winning Kaleidoscope Theatre will present a magically fun musical adaptation of the famous fairy tale on Feb. 23 at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. Kelsey Theatre is on the college’s campus, 1200 Old Trenton Road, West Windsor.
Poor Rapunzel is locked in a tower by a bumbling witch. The only way in is by climbing
her beautiful and extremely long hair, which a brave prince is willing to do – and then
find a way out for them both with the help of the audience, according to a press release.
Lovely, lively songs add to a mood of enchantment and romance as Rapunzel meets her true love and escapes her tower prison, according to the press release.
Based in Rhode Island, the award-winning Kaleidoscope Theatre is a professional
touring company that has been entertaining family audiences since 1977.
In addition to light-hearted fairy tales, Kaleidoscope shows also incorporate serious themes of drug prevention, teen pregnancy, divorce and disability. Young actors with disabilities are encouraged to participate and each production contains important messages with the recurring theme that “we are all special,” according to the press release.
Tickets for “Rapunzel” are $10 for children and seniors, and $12 for adults. Tickets may
be purchased online at www.KelseyTheatre.net or by calling 609-570-3333. Kelsey Theatre is wheelchair accessible, with free parking available next to the theater.
