NORTH BRUNSWICK – The Township of North Brunswick recognized its heroes on Feb. 4, presenting various first responders with awards for their bravery, daily dedication and outstanding performance.
Members of the North Brunswick Police Department; North Brunswick Volunteer Fire Co. Nos. 1, 2 and 3; North Brunswick First Aid & Rescue Squad; Office of Emergency Management; and CERT team were specifically lauded for their efforts during the December fire at the Governor’s Pointe complex.
“I think we all go to bed grateful every night that those of you who are here are in our town and do what you do for us,” Mayor Francis “Mac” Womack said.
Several organizations that donated to the cause were presented with Good Citizenship Awards for their kindness and generosity: the North Brunswick Woman’s Club, the Youth Sports Festival, the Adams Athletic & Social Club with its Ladies Auxiliary, the North Brunswick Democratic Organization, the North Brunswick Township High School Raiders football team, Grace Church of North Brunswick, Congregation B’Nai Tikvah, Walmart, Pay Less Furniture, Jack’s Famous Furniture and Raymour & Flanigan.
“We have the finest police department and we have the bravest fire department and we have the most skilled EMTs in New Jersey and I’m very proud of that,” said Rich Fabian, of the Adams AC and the Youth Sports Festival.
“It’s always good when you can step up and try to help but there’s no amount of money, there’s no donation that could make up what each and every one of you do in this room, and that’s saving people’s lives,” said Rich Zangara of the Democratic Organization.
