The East Brunswick Woman’s Club will meet at 7:30 p.m. on March 12 at East Brunswick Fire District 1, Civic Center Station, 310 Rues Lane, East Brunswick.

The evening will start with a short meeting followed by fun and friendship with an in-house event.

All are welcome to attend. Refreshments will be served.

The Jamesburg Elks will hold a comedy show on March 23 at the lodge, 74 W. Railroad Ave., Jamesburg.

Seating begins at 6:30 p.m. Dinner at 7 p.m. Show at 8 p.m.

Featuring Eric Potts, Paul Venier and Steve Trevelise.

Tickets are $35 for buffet dinner and select beverages.

Proceeds benefit the Elks charities.

The Spotswood High School Troupers will present “James and the Giant Peach” at 6:30 p.m. from March 14-16, with a matinee performance at 1:30 p.m. March 16, at the high school, 105 Summerhill Road, Spotswood.

Tickets are $10 for adults, or $7 for students and seniors.

United Methodist Church of Milltown will hold its annual Lenten Noonday Worship & Recital Series at noon Wednesdays during Lent, March 13, 20 and 27, and April 3 and 10.

The sanctuary will be open for a short prayer service and 30-minute organ recital.

The American Guild of Organists: Middlesex chapter, will also present its
annual members’ recital on the church’s new pipe organ at 4 p.m. March 17.

Much of the program will feature the works of Irish composers to celebrate
Saint Patrick’s Day. A free-will offering will be taken and the concert
will be followed by a reception.

The church is located at 47 N. Main St., Milltown.

Baseball and softball Opening Day is April 6 in Monroe.

A baseball parade begins at 9:30 a.m., followed by a program at 10 a.m., at James Monroe Memorial Park, 140 Dey Grove Road, Monroe.

Softball festivities begin at noon at Thomas Allen Softball Complex, 76 Gravel Hill-Spotswood Road, Monroe.

Ss. Peter & Paul RO Church will sell cheese, chocolate, cinnamon crumb, prune, poppy, raspberry, apricot, raisin, raspberry cheese, apricot cheese and chocolate cheese babkas for $12 each.

Workshops include job search techniques at 11 a.m., interview skills at 11:30 a.m., and image and influence at noon.

The United States Golf Association will hold a sectional qualifier for the 74th U.S. Women’s Open on April 23 at Forsgate Country Club (Banks Course), Forsgate Drive, Monroe.

 

The U.S. Women’s Open Championship is open to female professionals and amateurs with a Handicap Index not exceeding 2.4.

The annual Walk for Diane and the Bike Ride for Amy have combined to form the Amy Foundation Ride & Stride, which will begin at 6:30 a.m. June 23 at South Brunswick High School, 750 Ridge Road, Monmouth Junction section of South Brunswick.

There will be four different bicycle routes in addition to a 5K. A BBQ lunch for all volunteers and participants will follow.

Karma Cat + Zen Dog Rescue Society will hold its biggest annual fundraising dinner party, Paws for Celebration, from 6-10 p.m. on April 6 at Pierre’s, 582 Georges Road, Monmouth Junction section of South Brunswick.

There will be a full vegetarian dinner, a cash bar, dancing, door prizes and a silent auction.

All guests will receive a custom tote bag and wine glass.

All proceeds will go directly to the animals.
