Downtown Metuchen is participating in a nationwide fundraising challenge. The purpose is to find neighborhood improvements that build community. Metuchen’s entry is as a “third place,” which is anywhere outside of home and work where people get together and community building occurs – such as a café, bookstore, hair salon, bar and other hangouts.
New features Metuchen would like to add include awnings, outdoor dining, blade signs, improved lighting and attractive windows.
The program is run through A Community Thrives, part of the USA Today Network.
