Two officers join the ranks of the Cranbury Police Department

The Cranbury Township Police Department will have two new officers patrolling through  the community.

According to department officials, Officers John Glennon and Nicholas Rodrigues are the new officers joining the force.

“Glennon and Rodrigues were initially sworn in on Aug. 6, 2018, before Township Clerk Debra Rubin. Both were then assigned to attend the Cape May County Police Academy as part of the 45th Basic Course for Police Officers,” Cranbury Township Chief of Police Rickey Varga said.

He said Glennon and Rodrigues successfully graduated the academy on Jan. 14.

“Since graduation, both officers have been assigned to complete the department’s twelve week “Field Training Program”. Glennon and Rodrigues have been successfully released from the Field Training Program and both will immediately assume full patrol duties,” Varga said.

According to police officials, Glennon was a native of Wilson, N.C., prior to relocating to New Jersey. While in Wilson, he graduated from Fike High School. Glennon went on to attend East Carolina University in Greenville N.C., where he graduated in May 2016 with a  bachelor’s degree in criminal justice.

“Prior to being hired in Cranbury, Glennon was a graduate of the Pitt Community College Police Academy in North Carolina and served as a police officer with the Wilson City Police Department for a little more than two years,” he said.

Rodrigues is a native resident of the central New Jersey area. He is a graduate of Monroe Township High School, according to officials. Rodrigues went on to attend Rowan University. He graduated from the college in Glassboro in May  2014. He received a bachelor’s degree in law and justice.

“Prior to being hired in Cranbury, Rodrigues was a graduate of the Monmouth County Police Academy (Special Officer II) and proudly served as a Class II Police Officer with the Bradley Beach Police Department since January of 2017,” Varga said.

“These officers bring the current ranks of the Cranbury Township Police Department up to 19 sworn officers. Glennon and Rodrigues will be assigned to the Patrol Division and fill the void of the officers who were recently assigned to staff the agency’s newly formed Traffic Enforcement Bureau,” he said.
