A Howell resident has been convicted of sexually assaulting a juvenile family member, Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni announced.
Didier Perez Duarte, 33, was convicted on June 26 by a jury following a three-week trial in the courtroom of state Superior Court Judge Richard W. English, sitting in Freehold, according to a press release.
Perez Duarte was found guilty of second degree sexual assault and third degree endangering the welfare of a child, according to the press release.
Perez Duarte is scheduled to be sentenced before English in September and faces up to 10 years in prison. He will be required to register as a sex offender and be on parole supervision for life.
Gramiccioni said it was revealed at trial that Perez Duarte sexually assaulted a juvenile family member during the summer of 2018. He said the crimes came to light when the juvenile disclosed the incident to a family member, which spawned a joint investigation between the Howell Police Department and the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office.
