Mercer County accepting vote by mail applications for Nov. elections

Mercer County is now accepting vote by mail applications from county residents for the upcoming November elections.

According to Mercer County Clerk Paula Covello, mailed applications must be received at least seven days prior to the election. Faxed or emailed applications cannot be accepted.

Residents can walk into the county clerk’s office in Trenton and apply in person until 3 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 2, the day before the election. Additional hours will be posted on the county website leading up to election day.

Applications can be obtained at the Mercer County Connection Office, located in the Hamilton Square Shopping Center in Hamilton Township.

Officials said for votes to be counted, all mail-in ballots must be postmarked by election day and received by the board of elections no later than 48 hours after election day.

New Jersey law states that residents who are registered to vote can apply to vote by mail for any reason.

College students attending school outside the state are being asked to apply as soon as possible if they do not plan on returning home to vote in the election.

“Do not wait until October to get your ballot application processed if you are going away to college,” Covello said. “Do it now in the event of any delays.”
