Storytellers to share experiences living and working in Middlesex County through Story Slam event

Join Middlesex County and coLAB Arts for a Story Slam performance at 7 p.m. on Sept. 26 at the State Theatre New Jersey, 15 Livingston Ave., New Brunswick.

The theme is “Destinations: the people, places and everything in between where you are and where you want to be.” The event will feature local storytellers sharing their own unique experiences living and working in Middlesex County.

Audience members will also have the opportunity to participate by providing written Destination stories that will be displayed and selectively read by coLAB Arts artists on stage.

This performance is part of Rutgers Public Outreach and Engagement Team’s (POET) extensive public engagement effort for Destination 2040, the update of the county’s master plan. The purpose of the story slam is to ensure that voices from Middlesex County’s diverse communities are heard as part of the process of determining the county’s priorities.

Following the storytelling performances, audience members can also share their own stories and insights through a “talk back” with the performers and the coLAB artists.

This event is free of charge and open to all community members.

Light refreshments will be served following the story slam.

An RSVP is requested, so visit www.colab-arts.org/calendar/destinationslam or call 848-932-2876.
