sMiles for Katie annual ‘PHundraiser’ in Hazlet Oct. 4

sMiles for Katie will hold its fourth annual “PHundraiser” from 7-11 p.m. on Oct. 4 at Vibe Tap & Grill, 2870 Route 35, Hazlet.

Katie McCarthy was diagnosed in August 2012 with primary pulmonary hypertension. The pressure on the lung arteries and heart’s right ventricle eventually causes the heart to fail. Katie passed away on April 30, 2013.

The goal this year is to reach $50,000 to benefit the Pulmonary Hypertension Association (PHA). Since 2016, sMiles for Katie has donated about $35,000 to the PHA.
