ALLENTOWN – The Allentown Recreation Commission will sponsor the first Historic
Allentown 5K race on Sept. 28 at 9 a.m.
In a press release, the commission said it hopes to make the 5K race an annual event.
The 5-kilometer (3.1 miles) race will start at Dr. Farmer’s Park on Lakeview Drive in Allentown. The race will tour the streets in Lakeview, reach Main Street and enter Heritage Park near the Old Mill before concluding in Heritage Park.
Along the course, runners will have the opportunity to race through historic Allentown and experience a variety of trails and terrains, according to the press release.
Runners from all municipalities may register at https://runsignup.com/Race/NJ/Allentown/HistoricAllentown5K and may obtain additional information about the race at https://allentownboronj.com/
Registration for the 5K is $30 and includes a T-shirt and the opportunity to win a medal in a runner’s age bracket.
The event is being sponsored by the Allentown Recreation Commission, which is committed to improving recreational resources and activities in the community, acquiring property for recreational purposes, maintaining parkland and equipment, and improving existing public playgrounds and recreation sites, according to the press release.
Race day packets, which include a runner’s racing bib and T-shirt, may be picked up between 5-7 p.m. Sept. 27 at Dr. Farmer’s Park.
