South River council rejects bids for battery storage project

SOUTH RIVER–The Borough Council approved a resolution rejecting submitted bids for the construction of an electric battery storage facility.

Two bids were received on Aug. 8.

Borough Administrator Art Londensky said, “The winning bidder will design and construct a battery storage facility and interconnect to the borough’s electric system to reduce the transmission and capacity costs to the borough. The battery will be used during peak times and recharged during off-peak times.”

The council approved the resolution on Sept. 9 during the council meeting at the Criminal Justice Building.

The governing body rejected the bid due to the bidder submitting an exception to their bid, according to the council agenda.

Londensky said the bid advertisement was scheduled to be resubmitted Sept. 12 and will be available through the borough clerk’s office.
