Police responding to a fight at a bar at 11:40 p.m. Jan. 8 wound up arresting three people.
Sgt. Michael Cseremsak, Officer Brian Dendis and Officer Joseph McNeil went to the Patriots Crossing New American Bistro along Route 29 at the Washington Crossing’s Bridge.
Upon arrival, the officers saw an injured man, later identified as John McDermott, in the parking lot.
According to Mr. McDermott’s friend, Joshua Simon, someone had punched and knocked out Mr. McDermott in the bistro, police said.
Both Mr. McDermott, 23, and Mr. Simon, 22, appeared intoxicated and became uncooperative regarding the circumstances of the assault, police said. During the investigation, Mr. Simon became belligerent and started to interfere with medical attention being given to Mr. McDermott, police said.
Mr. Simon, of Taylorsville Road, Washington Crossing, Pa., was placed under arrest by Officer McNeil on a pending Wall Township traffic warrant.
Mr. McDermott, of S. Chancellor Street, New Hope, Pa., refused further medical care and allegedly became belligerent towards Officer Dendis, police said. Mr. McDermott was placed under arrest for disorderly conduct after he tried to enter Officer Dendis’ patrol car multiple times.
While Sgt. Cseresmak and Officer Dendis were placing Mr. McDermott in a patrol car, Lauren Simon, the sister of Joshua Simon, also allegedly became belligerent with officers and refused to back away from Mr. McDermott and the officers as they tried to place Mr. McDermott in the patrol car. Ms. Simon, 24, of Yorkshire Drive, Newtown, Pa., was placed under arrest for disorderly conduct as well.
Mr. Simon was released after being processed and posting bail on the traffic warrant. His case will be heard in municipal court.
Ms. Simon and Mr. McDermott were both processed and later released. Their cases will be heard in municipal court.
The investigation into the original assault report is ongoing, police said.
