HIGHTSTOWN – The East Windsor Regional School District Board of Education appointed two candidates to its leadership team during its Monday night meeting.
At it’s Feb. 8 meeting, the board named Laura Vetere to serve as interim principal of Ethel McKnight Elementary School until a permanent replacement is found.
According to Superintendent of Schools Dr. Richard Katz, Ms. Vetere has been in education for 34 years, including as elementary principal and director of curriculum and instruction in Millstone.
After her retirement in 2014, Ms. Vetere was elementary interim principal in Little Egg Harbor last year.
“Ms. Vetere is a proven, outstanding educator and, by every account, the perfect person to fill this interim role,” Dr. Katz said in a letter sent out to the education community on Feb. 9. “We are excited to welcome her to the East Windsor educational community and are confident that EMK will continue to thrive under her leadership.”
Ms. Vetere was scheduled to begin on Feb. 11, working alongside Principal Sylvia Zircher both Thursday and Friday to make the transition as smooth as possible. Principal Silvana Zircher’s last day will be Feb. 16, Dr. Katz added.
The board also appointed Patricia “Pat” Resnyk as the next transportation supervisor.
Business administrator and doard Secretary Paul Todd said that Ms. Resnyk is coming from Freehold Regional High School District, which is a large operation.
“Currently she oversees the daily transportation of 17,000 public and non-public students to six high schools from eight sending districts across 200 square miles,” said Mr. Todd.
Ms. Resynk’s first day of work will be April 11. She replaces former supervisor Ingrid Reitano, who retired Dec. 31, 2015.
“I am excited to be joining the East Windsor Regional Schools,” said Ms. Resnyk in a letter sent to the educational community the following day. “I look forward to sharing work experiences and exchanging ideas with my colleagues.”
