Fish dinner buffet is offered at firehouse 
Fri., Feb. 19 — Woods Road Fire Company will hold a fish dinner buffet at the firehouse at 324 Woods Road, 4:30 to 8 p.m. Buffet includes baked tilapia and fried cod fish, fried clams, fried shrimp, chicken fingers, pierogies, homemade coleslaw. $13 adults, $12 senior citizens (62 and older), $10 children 5 to 12 years, under 4 eats free. Tickets sold at door. 
Cub Scouts invites all boys to Pinewood Derby races 
Sat., Feb. 20 — Cub Scout Pack 289 will hold its annual Pinewood Derby race at the Triangle Elementary School from 9 a.m. to noon. About 19 Cub Scouts will put their cars to the test to see who is the fastest, and who will take home the checkered flag.
Parents and children who are interested in getting involved in Cub Scouting are welcome. 
Garden club will hear about wildlife in garden 
Thurs., Feb. 25 — Diana and Mark Dove of Dove Environmental Education will talk about wildlife garden visitors at the Neshanic Garden Club meeting at 9:45 a.m. at the Station House on Olive Street, Neshanic Station.
The Doves will focus on wildlife species that venture into gardens, and how to react when coming in contact with them.

Lacrosse club will sponsor comedy fundraiser night 
Fri., Feb. 26 — The Hillsborough High School Lacrosse Booster Club will sponsor “Laugh and Give Back,” a night of comedy, at the Somerville Elks, 375 Union Ave., Bridgewater, from 6-11 p.m. Full dinner and show with headliner Steve Shaffer, ventriloquist Pete Michaels and comedian Rich Carucci. 50/50 raffle, basket auction and wine tasting.

Former employees to share stories about Doris Duke 
Sat., Feb. 27 — People who knew Doris Duke will share personal accounts at 2 p.m. at the United Reformed Church, 100 West Main St., Somerville. Former employees of the estate will participate in a moderated discussion about little-known facts about the legacy of Doris Duke and their time spent on the estate and inside the Duke Mansion. Pasta dinner will help RoboRaiders offset costs 
Sat., Feb. 27 — Hillsborough High School’s robotics team, Team 75 RoboRaiders, will host an “all you can eat” pasta dinner fundraiser from 4 to 8p.m. at the Hillsborough Municipal Building, 379 So. Branch Road. The event helps offset the cost of robotics competitions. $10 for adults, $5 for children 8 and younger, and $7 for senior citizens. 
Township Democrats will digest pasta and politics 
Sun., Feb. 28 — Hillsborough Democrats will hold traditional Italian-style Sunday dinner at Mariana’s Pizzeria and Latin Grill, 381 Triangle Road, (near Wawa), 12:30 to 3 p.m.
The dinner will give people a chance to informally discuss issues and Democratic prospects in Hillsborough.
Attendees will choose from pasta dishes, plus bruschetta, salad and beverages. Career-search counselor shares tips on landing jobs 
Wed., March 2 — Career search counselor John Hadley will talk to the Job Seekers support group from 7 to 9 p.m. at Jewish Family Services, 150-A West High St., Somerville, for job seekers who are unemployed, underemployed or seeking a career change.
His topic is “Secrets of Career Search Networking” on specific techniques and strategies to land jobs, such as getting the meetings in the first place and turning 1-on-1 meetings into connections that accelerate your search. 

Students will present ‘Into the Woods’ musical 
March 4, 5, 6, 12, 13 — Hillsborough High School Theatre will perform Stephen Sondheim’s musical, “Into The Woods,” borne from classic fairy tales, on March 4, 5 and 12 at 7 p.m. and Sundays, March 6 and 13, at 1 p.m. at the high school at 466 Raider Blvd.
“Into The Woods Tea Time” will be Saturday, March 12, from 1 to 3 p.m. where you can meet the characters up close and personal. Activities and snacks for the tea time guests will be provided. St. Mary’s Catholic Church holds Slavic dinner 
Wed., March 9 — St. Mary Byzantine Catholic Church holds its monthly dinner, 4 to 7 p.m., in the St. Mary Parish Center, 1900 Brooks Blvd. $14 for adults (ages 9 and up) and $5 for children (8 and younger). Republicans celebrate 100 days in office at dinner 
Fri., March 11 — The township Republican organization will hold a beef steak dinner to celebrate 100 days in office for this year’s all-GOP Township Committee from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at the Landing Restaurant, 311 Amwell Road. Steak, garden tossed salad, pasta, olive plate, beer, wine and soda (mixed drinks cash bar). Entertainment by strolling magician Will Fern. $75 per person. Sponsors sought, too.

Easter Bunny will appear at firehouse’s breakfast 
Sat., March 12 — The Easter Bunny will attend the pancake breakfast sponsored by the Volunteer Fire Co. No. 3’s auxiliary at the firehouse at 324 Woods Road. Seatings at 8 and 10:30 a.m. Bring a camera to take a picture with the Easter Bunny.

Therapy group that uses horses holds comedy night 
Sat., March 19 — Horses are helping trauma survivors in New Jersey find present moment, rebuild trust and establish personal coping skills — without having to “talk about it” and without any riding or mounted work. Veterans, at-risk teens and young children suffering bereavement all find solace with horses.
The Hillsborough-based nonprofit Spring Reins of Life will raise funds for its equine-assisted psychotherapy group therapy at a Comedy & Dessert night, 7-10 p.m., at Flemington Elks Lodge, Route 31. Featured stand-up comic is Mark Riccadonna. Cash bar, light snacks, desserts. Tickets are $35 with option to add donation. 
