Three upcoming events will help Hopewell Borough continue to commemorate the 125th anniversary of its incorporation as a municipality in 1891 from portions of Hopewell Township.
Two exhibits will show current and historical photos of Hopewell. Another March event will feature food and wine tasting.
The exhibit of current-day artistic photos begins tonight, Friday, Feb. 12. An opening reception for the exhibit, “Hopewell Through the Lens,” will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. at Gallery 14 at 14 Mercer St.
According to a Gallery 14 spokesman, 10 members are participating in this salute to Hopewell on its anniversary. The exhibit will continue through March 13.
“This series of images taken in and around the area captures the spirit of current and historic Hopewell. Included are photographs ranging from many of the historic buildings and locations in town; agricultural events; people and, of course, ‘oxen’.”
The photographers include John Clarke of Hopewell; Carl Geisler of Princeton; Alice Grebanier of Branchburg; Rhoda Isaac-Kass of Skillman; Charles T. Miller of Ringoes; Larry Parsons of Princeton; Martin Schwartz of Irvington; Samuel Vovsi of Princeton; Martha Weintraub of Hillsborough, and David G. Wurtzel of Hillsborough.
Gallery 14 has been a part of the Hopewell landscape for more than 15 years. It is one of only a few galleries in New Jersey dedicated solely to exhibiting fine art photography. It is open Saturdays and Sundays from noon-5 p.m. and by appointment.

An exhibit of historic photographs of the borough, the Lindbergh kidnapping and the unveiling of the commemorative letterpress broadside and prints will take place at an opening-night reception Friday, March 4, from 6-8 p.m. at Morpeth Gallery, 43 W. Broad St., Hopewell.
Since 1996, Morpeth “has featured the work of emerging and mid-career artists from across the country, with an emphasis on artistic integrity and craftsmanship.”

A food and wine tasting event, “Family History in a Bottle,” will be held Thursday, March 10, from 7-9 p.m. at The Brothers Moon, 7 W. Broad St.
A spokesman said: “Come raise a glass and a fork at a fun and informative evening of food and wine to commemorate Hopewell Borough’s year-long 125th anniversary celebration.
“Just as Hopewell has its historic families that span the generations and keep us in touch with our roots, the wine world has its own celebrated lineages such as the Antinori family, spanning 26 generations; and the Wente family, with the oldest continually running vineyard in the United States.
“Hear intriguing and provocative family stories from the wine world while sipping an assortment of grape varieties matched to four food courses expertly paired by Bob Prewitt, founding member of the Society for Wine Educators, and Chef Will Mooney, co-owner and executive chef at The Brothers Moon.”
Costs for the evening will be $80 per person and $72 for members of the Hopewell Valley Arts Council.
