WEST WINDSOR — The West Windsor Township Municipal Building was evacuated briefly Thursday morning after someone reported a suspicious powder — which turned out to be harmless — coming from a mail envelope, according to the West Windsor Township Police Department.
Police were called to the building at 8:45 a.m., and evacuated the building of employees and closed it to the public as a precaution.
The West Windsor Emergency Services Special Operations and Hazmat unit arrived and conducted a full investigation, police said. A bomb-sniffing dog from the Render Safe task force was also brought in to make a sweep of the building.
After the powder was found to be harmless, all employees returned to work and the building was reopened to the public, police said.
A full investigation is being conducted by police Det. Sgt. Skwierawski. Anyone with questions or information should contact him at 609-799-1222.
