HILLSBOROUGH: ShopRite employees get faces on cereal box

Employees at Hillsborough’s ShopRite supermarket raised $14,395 for local food banks and won the right to see the faces of two employees on a special-edition Cheerios box .
ShopRite associates across six states banded together last September in a friendly competition that ultimately raised $1.3 million to support regional food banks in communities served by the supermarket’s stores.
With a “Lending a Hand for Hunger” theme, ShopRite associates collected donations at check-out and held in-store events to raise money.
Each of the 40 winning ShopRite stores was rewarded with the selection of employees whose face would appear on 150,000 special-edition Cheerios boxes to be sold exclusively at ShopRite. ShopRite of Hillsborough selected Lynette Byrne of Hillsborough and Sebastian Haag of Belle Mead to be featured on the box, which was unveiled in a ceremony at the store in Nelson’s Corner shopping center on Route 206 on March 16.
Additionally, each winning store was awarded funds ($3,000 for the top 5 stores, and $500 for the remaining winning stores) for local food pantries chosen by their store team.
The annual “Partners in Caring” Cheerios contest is sponsored by ShopRite and General Mills.
