U8 Blue Dragons
The East Windsor PAL U8 Blue Dragons defeated the Lacey Lions 6 to 3 on Sunday. Coach Guillermo Tous called it a “total team effort” as five different Blue Dragons scored goals. In the first half, Zachary Banegas, Sebastian Rincon, and Eydan Coronel each put the ball in the net to make it three to two by halftime. The Lions roared back to score a goal in the second half tying the score three to three. Then the Blue Dragons tightened their defense and offensively Alexander Garcia scored two goals and Illias Bettendorf scored one. Dylan Stables played the entire second half in goal and was the game winning goalie preserving the lead and win with his saves. The Blue Dragons are off to a quick start this Spring with a record of two wins no losses.
The Storm
Storm traveled to Rumson Sunday losing a tough match 2-0 against the Little Dawgs. Keeper Mary Kate Hartnett played a terrific game frustrating Rumson for most of the match. Defenders Meg Regan, Lili Iavarone and Jessica Gratkowski aided a scoreless 1st half as Storm’s offense was held at bay. In the second half Rumson final broke the tie off an errant goal kick. Storm’s mid-field helped step up the attack from that point as Julia Pendino, Mikayala Capasso and Payton Rupp aided by stopper Jessica Saldutti dominated the middle but few chances made it through the defense. In the final minutes Rumson knocked loose a ball that Harnett had possession of, scoring to seal the win.
U12 Thunder girls
The East Windsor PAL Girls U12 Thunder bounced back from an opening day defeat with a 3-1 victory vs. Middletown Sonic Dynamite. Izzy DelToro opened the scoring in the first half with her second goal of the season. Middletown answered back with a goal of their own before the half, but Isabella Benitez broke the tie with 15 minutes to play and Teresa Alison sealed the victory with the third goal of the game. The defense of Bella Cammarata, Emily Coyle and Mia Huang continuously stopped the speedy Middletown attack in front of Goalkeepers Anna Radigan and Annie Kosa.
