Results of this week’s Hopewell Valley Recreation League baseball:
Babe Ruth League
Aztec Graphics took a 12-2 victory over the Colavita Jewelers on Saturday. Rickey Eng, Trevor Hvizdos and Matt Carmon led the Aztec Graphics.
Eng scored twice, hit two singles and had a triple. Hvizdos had a single and 4 RBIs, including the game-ending bunt to score Eng. Carmon had two singles and scored three times. Robert Mathes,Tommy Belsky and Jacob Elam added singles for Aztec Graphics. Anthony Yarson, Spencer Markiewic, Mathes and Elam scored.
For Colavita, Luke Sodomin, Dominick Yarsin, Sean Lawton and Evan Vega each hit a single. Robbie Rose’s double and Yarsin’s single kept the Jewelers in the game to bring in two runs with two outs.
Peddlers Village beat the Ewing Kiwanis,13-2, in 5 innings. Peddlers Village benefited from doubles by Nathan Stranieri and Chris Romano. Defensively, Peddlers Village had great pitching by David Phillips, helped by field work behind him.
The Bad News Bears beat Ewing Kiwanis, 7-3. The Bears’ Luis Figuroa rung up 7 strikeouts and Gavin Aker closed the game with 4 strikeouts. The Bears had RBIs from Tony St. John, Luis Figuroa, Gavin Aker and Andrew Ashton.
Ewing Kiwanis started the game with Jaden Elmer getting a 2-run RBI. They also has great pitching: Ryan Gordan had 4 strikeouts and Kyle Randazzo closed the game with 4 strikeouts.
Peddler’s Village defeated Aztec Graphics, 12-2. David Phillips went 3 for 3 and Matt Nyce scored 3 runs and went 2 for 2. Peddler’s Village starter, Kyle Testa pitched a no-hitter through three. Alex Paul of Aztec Graphics hit a double.
King’s Pizza survived against Colovita’s Jewelers, 10-6, in a back-and forth game. The game was tied, 3-3, going into the fourth but a hit by Dominic Yarson put the Kings ahead. Colovita came back to go ahead, 5-4. In the 6th inning, King’s scored 4 runs to go ahead, 8-4, and added two more. Colovita’s comeback with 2 runs fell short.
Majors League
The Phillies of Applebee’s upended the Red Sox of Kuppex Landscaping, 17-9. For the Phillies Jake Loughery pitched the top of the 7 innings and gave up no runs and struck out 3 batters. Alex D’Avanzo went 4-4 with 4 runs scored. For the Red Sox, Jay Swindell went 2-2 with a 2-run home run to right center field and also scored three runs. Jake Lengle started the game for the Red Sox and struck out 2 batters and gave up 1 run.
In Wednesday’s game, the A’s pulled out a 6-5 victory over the Orioles. The Orioles had great performances by Brenden Myers went 2-3 with a single and a 2-run RBI double. Henry Garnich stroked a single and a RBI triple. A’s players Armaan Singh, Logan Bergner, Michael Boyer and Jake Sanderson all got RBIs.
Tuesday’s game between the Hogan Self-Storage Mets and the STS Yankees ended in a 6-6 tie. Both sides were able to hit well, field well, and pitch well. Mets player Kolton Moyer went 2-3 with a RBI double and the RBI single that gave his team the lead heading into the bottom of the 6th. Yankees player Jarrett Sharp went 2-3 with a triple and a 3 run home run to center field. Ben Perrino scored the game-tying run for the Yanks by scampering home on a passed ball behind the catcher.
Knapp’s Cyclery and Hogan Self Storage tied, 7-7. For Knapp’s, Nick Tagliareni pitched an inning and struck out 2 batters. Paul Myers of Hogan Self-Storage also only pitched 1 inning and also struck out two. Dylan Eng belted two home runs for 3 RBIs. Tim McKweon went 2-2 with a walk and a RBI.
