Patrolmen Stephen Nowacki and Scott McCarthy have been selected as the “Top Cop” award recipients for 2015.
Two officers, one from each of the department’s two patrol squads, are selected to receive the recognition.
Recipients are determined based upon a score attained from their annual job performance evaluations, along with a ranking achieved from their respective supervisors and peers.
An acknowledgment of the award is placed in the officer’s permanent personnel file and a special award bar, to be work above his uniform badge, is presented.
The officers’ names will be engraved on a plaque displayed in the lobby of the police headquarters; it lists each year’s winner since the program began in 1996.
Patrolman Nowacki has been a member of the department since 2002 and has served in both the patrol and investigative divisions. He is the recipient of several command citations, was twice awarded the department’s Life-Saving Award and was previously selected a Top Cop in 2010.
Patrolman McCarthy has been on the force since 2008 and has served in the patrol division for a ll of the time. He is the recipient of a command citation and several commendation from his supervisors. This is the first time he has been selected as a Top Cop.
