Carrie F. Brown, 49, of Trenton, was charged with shoplifting for taking an assortment of items valued at a combined $190.52 from Walmart at 2:31 p.m. April 18. She was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia when she was allegedly found to have items associated with smoking crack cocaine. She also was discovered to have an outstanding warrant for $250 from Ewing Township, and was turned over to the Ewing Township Police Department.
A 53-year-old West Windsor resident reported an incident of identity theft, which he discovered when he was alerted by the Internal Revenue Service and Michigan tax authorities that suspected fraudulent tax returns were filed using his identification information. The incidents were reported to police at 9:48 a.m. April 17.
A 53-year-old West Windsor woman was alerted by her credit card company that someone was using her information to add another credit card to a joint account, but the account was frozen and the request was denied. The victim also reported that someone was trying to open a Bank of America credit card account, using her personal information on a credit card application that was submitted fraudulently. The incidents occurred between April 12 and April 19.
A 30-year-old Hamilton Township man reported the theft of his Apple iPhone 6S after he put it down next to a display at the Target department store, and forgot to pick it up. He went back to retrieve the cell phone, but it was gone. It was valued at $649.99. The incident was reported at 1:19 a.m. April 22.
Someone opened a new cell phone account with Verizon Asurion, using the personal information of a 37-year-old West Windsor woman. An online check of the victim’s American Express card revealed five fraudulent transactions. The credit card was subsequently canceled. The incidents occurred between April 7 and April 21, and were reported at 1:36 p.m. April 23.
Sharon R. McNeil, 28, of Trenton, was charged with shoplifting for concealing $272.23 worth of baby clothing in her bag, which she abandoned after a store employee at Babies R Us approached her to see if she needed help. The incident occurred at 10:40 a.m. April 26.
A 45-year-old West Windsor resident was the victim of identity theft, which he learned when he received a letter from the Internal Revenue Service verifying whether he had filed a federal income tax return for 2015. The victim had not filed an income tax return because he has gone on extension to file a tax return, through his accountant. The incident was reported at 6:47 p.m. April 25.
