Two women were injured Thursday morning when they were struck by a car as they were crossing Nassau Street around 8 a.m., according to the Princeton Police Department.
The women — Iolanda Del Prete, 30, and Donatella De Silva, 26, both Italian citizens — were attending a conference at Princeton University, police said.
The women were crossing Nassau Street from the campus side to the business side when they were struck by a 2010 Acura RDX driven by Naila A. Sheikh, 52, of Flanigan Street in Lawrenceville, police said. Ms. Sheikh was traveling east on Nassau Street.
Police said it appears that the women were in the marked crosswalk on Nassau Street, opposite Palmer Square, when they were struck by the front end of Ms. Sheikh’s Acura.
Ms. De Silva was taken to the University Medical Center of Princeton at Plainsboro for treatment of minor injuries. She was treated and released from the hospital.
Ms. Del Prete, who suffered serious injuries, was taken to Capital Health Regional Medical Center in Trenton for treatment.
The crash remains under investigation, and no summonses have been issued at this time, police said.
