The Hightstown Rams Pop Warner Flag Football Team began the season with a 28-0 victory against the Old Bridge Cougars Aug. 28.
Support for the players was evident from sidelines packed with Rams families. Cheers erupted from the Rams Flag Cheerleaders and the crowd when Akio Harris, Julian Davis, Joel Graciani and Xander Hauck scored touchdowns.
In the second game of the season Sept. 4, the Rams tied A & M (Allentown and Millstone) White 21-21 in a home game. Applause, encouraging words, and cowbells rang out from the bleachers during the game in support of the team. All three touchdowns were scored by Richie Polgar, and Akio Harris intercepted a pass from the A&M quarterback.
The team is led by coaches Erik Hauck, Joel Graciani, Chris DeLeon, and Rich Polgar. Veteran Flag players include Xander Hauck, Slater Hauck, Joel Graciani, Tysen DeLeon, Richie Polgar, Akio Harris, Brody Hanley, and Bobby Bell. Players new to Pop Warner are Noa Bettendorf, Chyiam Griffin, Julian Davis, Bella Giudice, Joshua Conner, Justin Choice, Jalen Gunnell-Wallace, Jordan Corzo, Connor Suk, Trey Andrews, Kevin Situ and Cody Lisk.
The Hightstown Rams Pop Warner Flag Football team’s next games are Sept. 11 at home against A&M Black and on Oct. 9 against Hamilton, also at home.
