Three Lytle Street residents are in the Mercer County Correctional Center after being charged with the beating of another Lytle Street resident on Tuesday night, Sept. 20, the Princeton Police Department announced.
Antonio Del Cid-Mijangos, 44, William Del Cid-Barillas, 23, and Edwin Del Cid-Barillas, 21, were arrested after police were called to Lytle Street on the report of an assault. The victim, who police said is a resident of the first block of Lytle Street, was walking down the street when the three men approached.
The victim told police he was pushed to the ground and kicked repeatedly by the three men. When he was able to get up he ran to a nearby back yard but the accused pursued him with a hammer that came from the bed of a pickup truck parked nearby, police reported.
The victim called out for help and was assisted by a 29-year-old Lytle Street man. The two escaped into a nearby residence and locked the door. The accused men tried to break into the house by kicking and pounding on the door, damaging it, police said.
While the victims sustained minor injuries they were not transported to the hospital, police said. But the accused men were injured also; apparently two of them were hit inadvertently by the hammer during the attack. They were taken to the University Medical Center of Princeton at Plainsboro for treatment.
The accused men were each charged with aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose and criminal attempt burglary. Bail was set at $50,000 each with no 10 percent option. All were transported to the Mercer County Correctional Center, police said.
