PRINCETON: Nine passengers taken to hospital after school bus crashes into church building

Seven students and two adult passengers were taken to the hospital this afternoon when a Princeton Public Schools bus crashed into the overhang of a River Road church, the Princeton Police Department reported.
The passengers were not seriously injured, police said, but were taken to the University Medical Center of Princeton at Plainsboro for “precautionary reasons.” Police did not say if the passengers had been released from the hospital.
According to the police, the bus driver, Wendy Johnson, 54, of North Brunswick, attempted to make a U-turn in the Princeton Church of Christ driveway at 33 River Road about 4 p.m. The bus attempted to pass through an overhang attached to the building but collided with the overhang, damaging the 20-passenger bus and the building.
The seven young passengers were all Princeton residents, police said.
The Princeton Technical Rescue Unit, Princeton Fire Department and the Plainsboro Fire Department responded to the scene due to the structural damage to the building. The crash remains under investigation.
