The Hightstown Rams Pop Warner Pee Wee division football team beat the Monroe Wolverines 33-6 in a divisional game on Sunday at the Hightstown High School football field.
The Rams were led by Isaiah Thornton who scored two touchdowns, one of which was an electrifying kickoff return. Jaylen Gundy had a long touchdown run; Danny Wersching scored on a nice quarterback bootleg and Tyler Koerner punched in a score with a tough goal line run. Matt Vingara made a great catch in the end zone on an extra point conversion and Max Weingarten converted an extra point kick. Jazz Walker also earned some tough yardage on the ground. The Rams ground gain was anchored by the strong offensive line play of Sal Spinelli, Alex Herb and AJ Mackey.
The defense was led by Liam O’Donnell, Dylan Schendlinger and Bryce Gordon who all made multiple tackles in the game, as well as helping out on the offensive line. Alex Rodriquez, Odin Burk, Troy Curran and Ethan Altaro all contributed with important defensive stops at key points in the game.
The Rams will next travel to West Windsor for a tough divisional battle with the West Windsor Wildcats.
