A Red Cross blood drive with Hightstown K of C #6284 will be held from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct 29, at the First Aid squad in Hightstown, 168 Bank St. You can sign up to donate online at www.redcrossblood.org. Enter sponsor code KofC6284. The Hightstown K of C #6284 has been hosting Red Cross blood drives for more than 10 years and has collected more than 1,000 blood donations. Please donate blood if you are able to Every blood donation will save three lives.

An exhibit featuring more than four hundred pieces of 20th Century costume jewelry will be available for viewing from 1 to 4 p.m. at Cranbury Museum, 4 Park Place East. Famous makers such as Trifari, Weiss, Danecraft, Coro, Marcel Boucher, Sarah Coventry, Carolee, Napier, Hollycraft, Kramer, Florenza, Monet and Christian Dior are included in the collection. Pearls, rhinestones, cameos, mother of pearl, Bakelite and marcasite are represented, along with more than 75 Christmas pins.
Beth El Synagogue of East Windsor Genealogy Club will sponsor a discussion titled, “Jump Start Your Genealogical Research” at 7:30 p.m. In many cases knowing where to start your genealogical search can save a huge amount of your time and effort. Doing genealogy was once a solitary task. There was no way to find out who else, if anyone, was doing research on the same families as you were. Today, with the numerous aids that are available, it’s a simple matter to find colleagues with whom you can compare notes and share discoveries. The Hightstown High School After Prom Committee is planning its Bingo fundraising event at the Hightstown High School cafeteria, 25 Leshin Lane, Hightstown. Doors open at 6 p.m. and Bingo will be played from 7 to 10 p.m. Admission for the event, for ages 18 and over, is $25, which includes four cards/15 games, light snacks and beverages. Additional boards will be available for purchase and there will be a 50/50 raffle. Proceeds will benefit the 2017 Hightstown High School after-prom event.

Saluts de Salies – Ten Months in Southwest France, at 7 p.m. at the Cranbury Public Library. This program will be presented by Cranbury resident Richard Moody. He will speak about the 10 months he and his wife, Lisa, recently spent in a 400-year old house in the medieval town of Salies de Bearn in the province of Bearn in southwest France. Start off your Thanksgiving Day by helping those in need. Participate in the fourth annual Mercer County Turkey Trot at Mercer County Park, 334 South Post Road, West Windsor, N.J., 08550. The morning event will consist of a 5K Race and a 1 Mile Walk/Run. The 5K race kicks off at 8:30 am from the West Picnic area. The 1 Mile Walk/Run begins at 8:35 am. The entry fee is $35. Proceeds will benefit local food pantries, including JFCS, Rise, TASK, Catholic Charities and Mercer Street Friends.
