EAST BRUNSWICK – With a Jewish/Indian health theme, the East Brunswick chapter of Hadassah held its annual membership gala in a “Garden of Vegan.”
Leaders were dressed in saris, while members were treated to henna tattoos on Sept. 19 at the East Brunswick Jewish Center. There was a garden photo booth, a silent auction and tricky tray.Goodie bags were filled with Hadassah’s healthy recipes, information on Ayurveda, yoga cards, and donations from Investors Bank.
A flavorful vegan Indian feast was served.
All learned about the Hadassah Medical Organization’s medical miracles in talk by the president of Southern New Jersey Region, Carol Charen. This was followed by a talk on ancient Ayurveda medicine given by the chapter’s co-President Elaine Silver. Keynote speaker Ruth Greenfield offered the history of Indian Jews and their contributions to health rooted in Ayurveda; she also spoke of medicinal gardens and what these plants and trees can do for health. Closing the show was Judy Steinweis and Company with the singing of a song to the tune of “Green Acres”.
