I am writing to add my name to those supporting Jane Staats and Harrison Burke for Hillsborough Township Committee.
Jane and Harry have been going door-to-door listening to residents for months. And as they have walked the township they have had conversations with families in more than 5,000 homes. They have committed themselves to continuing that one-on-one connection after the election showing a dedication to understanding the needs of our residents.
In the last 15 years, municipal taxes have gone up, in spite of what is promoted at election time. Unfortunately, taxes are like monthly bills; increases are inevitable, but it’s what and how you spend that makes the difference. Jane and Harry have been talking with residents about these issues for months and will put a priority on maintaining services like rescue and basic infrastructure maintenance. And that is because these issues are important to all Residents of Hillsborough.
These two candidates realize that while development is one of many methods of holding a steady tax base, they will not let developers influence major zoning and planning decisions at the expense of residents.
The costs of one-party rule in Hillsborough and in Somerset County have reached the breaking point, and it is time for Hillsborough voters to say, “Enough!” I am casting my vote for Jane Staats and Harrison Burke for Hillsborough Township Committee and the rest of the Democratic line. On Tuesday, November 7, Vote Column 1 all the way.
