Rodney David Templon, 63, passed away on Thursday, September 15, 2016 at the University Medical Center of Princeton at Plainsboro. He was born on March 7, 1953 in Altoona, PA to Joyce Arminta Templon Anderson and the late David John Templon. Rodney grew up in Altoona, Martinsburg, and Hollidaysburg and was a member of the Hollidaysburg High School class of 1970. He graduated from Lycoming College in 1974 and the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in 1982.
Rodney lived in Pennington, NJ with his wife Michelle for the past 33 years, where he was scoutmaster of Pack 44 and scout leader of Troop 44, and volunteered with the HVCHS Marching Band. He retired from the Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory in 2014 after 34 years. He worked for the past 18 months at the Battelle National Biodefense Institute, in Frederick, MD. Rodney was certified in purchasing management and professional contract management and started Muleshoe Consultants LLC. He loved biking, learning about history, spending time outdoors, and doing crossword puzzles. Rodney was a brilliant thinker, loving husband and father, and generous giver of his time and talents.
Rodney is survived by his wife of 40 years; his mother; his sister, Cynthia Thurston, and her husband, Steve; his four children, John, Matthew, Megan, and Andrew Templon; and his daughter-in-law, Laura Schocker.
A viewing will be held at the Wilson-Apple Funeral Home, 2560 Pennington Road, Pennington, NJ from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday, September 18. There will be a memorial service in his honor on Monday, September 19 at 11 a.m. at Hopewell Valley Vineyards, 46 Yard Rd, Pennington, NJ.
Rodney gave the gift of life through organ and tissue donation.
