Georgeann Mandato, 89, of Manalapan, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 10, 2016 at Pine Brook Care Center, Manalapan. Born in the Bronx, N.Y., she was raised and lived most of her life in Brooklyn, N.Y., before moving to Manalapan in 2011.
She belonged to Sons of Italy and was an active member at Covered Bridge, Manalapan. Besides cheering for the New York Yankees, Georgeann enjoyed cooking, hosting holiday meals and spending time with her many friends and cherished family. Her greatest joy came from seeing her grandchildren and great-grandchildren born, watching them grow and being a part of their many accomplishments.
She was predeceased by her husband, Arthur Mandato, in 1987, and son-in-law, Richard Anello, in 2009.
Georgeann is survived by her daughters, Maureen Anello of Florham Park, and Lorraine Mandato of Long Island; her son, Artie Mandato and his wife, Anita, of Manalapan; five grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; and her twin sister, Marie Caltagirone of Boca Raton, Fla.
Visitation was held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, Freehold Township, on Sept. 11. Relatives and friends were invited to gather at the funeral home on Sept. 12 for a procession to a Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Mercy Church, Englishtown. Interment was private.
