Margaret Anne Vieth “Peggy” died peacefully at home in Maui on October 7, 2016. Peggy was born in Tiffin, Ohio on October 7,1937 to William and Anna Schira, the youngest of six sisters and brothers.
Peggy met the love of her life, Dr. Wolf R.Vieth, at a college dance in Columbus, Ohio and married him in July of 1957. At the completion of his Master’s program, they moved to Cambridge, Massachusetts where Wolf completed his PhD. and remained to teach at M.I.T.
In addition to raising four children, Peggy was an avid gardener, and talented at needlework, from tailoring to fine embroidery. She was adept at many different kinds of puzzles, and enjoyed reading all of her life.
Peggy and Wolf spent twenty-eight years in Belle Mead, New Jersey as Wolf taught in the Chemical & Biochemical Engineering department at Rutgers University. Peggy learned to create the type-sets and diagrams used to publish highly technical books by Wolf. Peggy and Wolf retired to Cape May Point, New Jersey two decades ago, spending many winters in Maui with their youngest son and his wife.
Peggy was a member of Our Lady Star of the Sea in Cape May, New Jersey for many years and was an active volunteer both there and at St. Agnes in Cape May Point. Additionally, she donated her time and skills to her community in Cape May Point as a member of several local civic organizations
Peggy is survived by Wolf and her children, Jane, Linda, Chris (Dana) and Mark (Mhel); by grandchildren Kyle, Annie, Jeny and Jeffrey; by many nieces and nephews, and numerous other relatives and friends.
There will be a Mass of celebration of her life on Saturday, November 26, 2016 at Our Lady Star of the Sea at 525 Washington in Cape May, NJ at Ten o’clock.
