Carole E. Clayton, 83

Carole E. Clayton, 83, of Monroe Township, passed away on Saturday, December 31, 2016, at the University Medical Center of Princeton at Plainsboro.
Born in New Brunswick, Mrs. Clayton resided in Cranbury for many years until settling in Monroe Township 18 years ago. Carole was the President of her nursing class of 1954 and worked as a registered nurse at Middlesex General Hospital (now Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital) in New Brunswick prior to being the managing nurse for Dr. Freidenthal’s practice in North Brunswick. Mrs. Clayton then left her nursing career to raise her family.
Mrs. Clayton had many involvements including PTA and coordinating gatherings with her Mercer Medical Center Nursing Class of 1954. She was a longtime member of the Cranbury Historic Society. Carole was a Docent at the Cranbury Historic Museum and a Republican Committee woman. She enjoyed spending time at her residence in Sedona Arizona and being with her family.
Predeceased by her parents, Carl and Marjorie Jolly; she is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Jonathan A. Clayton; and her children, David A. Clayton and Susan B. Clayton.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 5, 2017, at 1:30 p.m. at the A.S. Cole Funeral Home, 22 North Main Street, Cranbury, NJ.
Interment will follow at Old Tennent Cemetery in Manalapan.
Visitation for friends and family will be held on Thursday, January 5, 2017, from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. at the A.S. Cole Funeral Home.
