Ronald C. Witt Sr., 72, of Cranbury passed away at home on Thursday, Feb. 2, 2017. Born in Colorado Springs, Colorado; he was raised in Chicago, Illinois and had lived in Princeton for 23 years before moving to Cranbury six years ago.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Nancy Witt, one son and daughter-in-law, Ronald Jr. and Maureen Witt , one daughter, Lisbeth Witt and her significant other, Wade Plummer, three grandchildren, Hannah, Cameron and Devon, one brother and sister-in-law, Terry and Patti Witt of Salem, Oregon; nephews, Troy and Chad Witt, and a large extended family.
Ronald was a graduate of the United States Naval Academy Class of 1966 and served in the Navy and Naval Reserve for 30 years, achieving the rank of Captain. During his time in the service he was a naval aviator and was proud to have served aboard the USS Intrepid. Ronald was founder and Chief Executive Officer of Sweetwater Construction Corp. in Cranbury. He was a member of the Associated Builders & Contractors, Inc. where he had served as president. Ronald loved skiing, golfing and cycling. He was an ultimate Chicago sports fan – rooting tirelessly for the Cubs, Bears and Blackhawks and was happy to have seen the Cubs 2016 World Series Win.
Calling hours will be held 3pm to 8pm on Tuesday, Feb. 7 at the Barlow & Zimmer Funeral Home, 202 Stockton Street, Hightstown, NJ 08520. Funeral services will be held 11am Wednesday, Feb. 8 at Princeton Alliance Church, 20 Schalks Crossing Road, Plainsboro, NJ 08536. Burial will follow in Brainerd Cemetery, Cranbury. Following the service, a celebration of Ron’s life will be held at the Cranbury Inn.
