Therese Moore Genne of Springfield, Virginia went to be with her Lord Saturday, October 21, 2017.
A tried and true New Yorker, Therese lived many of her early years in New York City and worked at Macy’s in what would now be called the Information Technology department. There she met her husband, John William Genne. The two moved to Plainsboro, NJ where they raised their two sons, David and Douglas. Mrs. Genne continued her career at Princeton University in the fund-raising office and worked there for over 20 years.
Upon retirement, she and her husband traveled the world enjoying all that it had to offer. When not roaming the globe, she was home actively engaged with her parish: Queenship of Mary Roman Catholic Church serving in any capacity where she was needed. After her husband passed away in 2013, Mrs. Genne continued to live in Plainsboro until 2015 when she moved to Springfield, VA to live with her sister and be closer to her two sons and their families. While in Springfield, she enjoyed being surrounded by her immediate and extended families. She also started becoming more active in her local parish of St. Bernadette Catholic Church.
Therese is survived by her older son and daughter in law, David Genne and Crystal King of Washington, DC; her younger son and daughter in law, Douglas and Constance Genne and her granddaughter, Sarah Genne of Burke, VA. She is also survived by her sister, Kathleen Cobb of Springfield, VA; her brother and sister in law; James and Eleanor Moore of Chapel Hill, NC, and her many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
A Mass celebrating Therese’s life will be held 11AM, Saturday November 4th at St. Bernadette’s Church in Springfield, VA.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the MaryKnoll Sisters (https://www.maryknollsisters.org/) in Therese’s name; a Catholic charity Therese supported for many years.
