The Township Committee in Freehold Township has authorized a contract for the purchase of rock salt as preparations for winter weather get underway. The contract is for an amount not to exceed $171,510.

Committee members awarded a contract to Chemical Equipment Labs Inc., Newtown Square, Pa., for the purchase of sodium chloride (rock salt). The cost is $57 per ton and the purchase was made through the Monmouth County Cooperative Pricing System.

In other business, committee members authorized a contract with Gibson Farms of Freehold for 2019 leaf recycling/disposal. The amount of the services is not to exceed $52,000. Committee members also authorized a contract for 2019 leaf recycling/disposal with Sigismondi Greenhouses, LLC. (Sigismondi Brothers Farm) in an amount not to exceed $27,000.

And, the committee awarded a $24,998 contract for one Tuff Vac-4000 leaf and debris vacuum with Cherry Valley Tractor Sales, Marlton.

 

The Turning Point restaurants will host a weekend fundraiser on Nov. 2-3 to benefit LADACIN Network. The “Eat, Drink and Be Caring … Serving the Mission of LADACIN Network” event has raised more than $181,000 to support LADACIN Network’s educational, therapeutic, social, residential and support services since the event began in 2007, according to a press release.

The Turning Point locations in Manalapan, Long Branch, Little Silver, Holmdel, Brick Township and Sea Girt will be participating in the fundraiser.

Owners Kirk and Pam Ruoff and their staff members have a history of philanthropy and fundraising for various causes, according to the press release. In return for a donation of $25 or more to LADACIN, the Turning Point offers gift cards to guests for free entrees on a future visit.

LADACIN Network serves more than 3,500 infants, children and adults with complex physical and developmental disabilities or delays in Monmouth and Ocean counties.

 

Join Studio 455 in its fourth annual “Blowout Breast Cancer” fundraiser on Oct. 28 from 4-8 p.m. at 455 Route 9 South, Manalapan.

Studio 455 stylists will be offering $20 blowouts to raise funds for Team Nurse, a walk-a-thon team from Marlboro that participates in “Making Strides Against Breast Cancer.”

The stylists will be donating their time to raise funds for Team Nurse, championed by their co-worker Victoria LoPresti. Studio 455 opened in 1998 with a staff of six and today there are more than 30 team members, according to a press release.

“At our salon we get to know our clients intimately, many become dear friends. Life is a journey filled with ups and downs and we have known many of our clients since high school when they come in to get their hair styled for their proms, then continue as brides, throughout their careers, and as moms who bring in their children,” said co-owner Jean Gatyas, who founded Studio 455 with co-owners Rich Dalziel and Debi Rucci.
