Makhelat HaMercaz Jewish Choir of Central New Jersey will present its spring concert “Singing With the Poets: The Muse & Music of Israel” at Temple Emanu-El, 100 James St., Edison, on June 12 at 7 p.m. The choral program will include pieces by wellknown Israeli, Yiddish and American composers/lyricists such as Naomi Shemer, Arik Einstein, Achinoam Nini, Zalman Mlotek, Sol Zim and David Burger.
This year, Middlesex County’s Harry Bernstein, a member of Temple Emanu-El, cochair of the Jewish Federation’s Jewish Community Relations Council, and a retired substance abuse/crisis counselor, will be honored for his contributions to the central New Jersey Jewish community.
Individual tickets may be purchased for $15 in advance, $20 at the door ($7 in advance, $10 at the door for seniors and students). Patrons may reserve two seats for a contribution of $100.
