The Hillsborough Township Public Schools District Board of Education approved a motion to renew the contract of acting superintendent Lisa Antunes for another three-month term.
The decision of approval came from the board members at a Feb. 10 meeting after Antunes was appointed acting superintendent last year when previous Hillsborough Township Schools Superintendent Jorden Schiff resigned and retired, which went in effect Oct. 1, 2019.
Schiff’s retirement announcement was made during a Sept. 16, 2019, board meeting following a closed session, which he did not attend. He served as superintendent for the district since 2011 and was selected as the Somerset County Superintendent of the Year in 2015.
The board passed a resolution accepting the resignation and appointed Antunes as acting superintendent.
According to the approved agreement between the board and Antunes, the renewed term will be in effect until March 31.
District officials said the board will continue to pay Antunes a prorated stipend of $576 per month as acting superintendent in addition to the base salary set forth in her employment agreement.
