EAST BRUNSWICK–As part of a nationwide store policy to help protect its most vulnerable customers from coronavirus, Stop & Shop’s East Brunswick location has new store hours for seniors.
All Stop & Shop stores will open early from 6-7:30 a.m. daily to service customers age 60 and up who are most vulnerable to COVID-19, according to a prepared statement from Stop & Shop Supermarket Company President Gordon Reid.
“During those hours, we look forward to welcoming customers who are age 60 and over as well as customers who may have weakened immune systems and are more susceptible to COVID-19,” Reid said, in a prepared statement.
Stefanie Shuman, Public and Community Relations manager for Stop & Shop stores in New Jersey, said Stop & Shop made the decision to allow community members in this age category to shop in a less crowded environment because it enables social distancing. Per the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), this age group is the most vulnerable.
While Stop & Shop recognizes it may be experiencing product shortages in some areas, its stores receive deliveries throughout the day so its shelves will be replenished for shoppers at all hours, according to the statement.
Stop & Shop has implemented added cleaning and sanitation efforts, which will continue throughout the day at all stores, company representatives said.
Finally, when customers shop for their family, be sure to keep other families in mind. Shop responsibly and buy just what you need, the statement reads.
“We hope you will join us in our efforts to care for the older members of our community and those who are most vulnerable at this time. We are also thankful to be able to continue to serve all members of our communities, and we appreciate your support in making this initiative a success,” Reid said in the statement.
